About

Welcome to the journey. Whether this is your first baby or your fifth, your pregnancy marks the start of a new path on your journey of motherhood. As birth professionals, we've walked this path before. We have the knowledge, skills, and experience to help you prepare for and enjoy a positive and empowering birth.

We love birth. Like hiking to a mountain's summit, giving birth pushes us past our perceived limits. It urges us to call on our inner strength and climb to new heights. And the journey's pinnacle, as we snuggle our new little babes to our skin, rushed with hormones that fill us with indescribable love, is truly life-changing. It's empowering to look back over the ascent and its challenges and say, "we did it!"

I paused my work as an educator of adolescents at the end of my first pregnancy. I had discovered a deep hunger for learning about pregnancy and birth - I was utterly amazed at the beauty and wonder of these processes. After I gave birth for the first time, I knew I needed to pivot my educator career from adolescents to adults - pregnant ones (and their partners). I felt deeply called to help empower women through knowledge of their bodies and their options and possibilities in birth. I went on to experience two other unique births - one at home and one of twins! - that each deepened my desire to learn more about birth and share my learning with others. After seven years of devoting my professional life to the incredibly grueling and joyful work of being the full-time caretaker of four children born in just four years, I completed an advanced doula and childbirth educator training. I absolutely love supporting women and families in the transformative and miraculous journey of pregnancy and birth.

Before moving to Utah in 2021, my family lived in London for six years. We love to travel and I have been to over 80 countries! I enjoy being outside in nature (especially the mountains), practicing yoga, podcasting with my three sisters, and taking pictures. I am obsessed with babies and just thinking about snuggling a newborn makes me weak in my knees! I am always seeking to deepen my knowledge of pregnancy and birth and hope to practice midwifery one day in the future.

Learning about your amazing body and your options in birth is exciting and empowering, and I would be thrilled to be a part of your journey!

My path to become a doula began with my first powerful and transformative experience giving birth. I left the hospital in awe of my innate strength and what my body could do. The more I talked with others, the more I realized my empowering birth was not the norm. I am a doula because I have a deep passion for helping others feel safe, seen, and supported in their journey through birth so they can discover their strength and have a positive experience. I believe the way we are treated during pregnancy and birth matters immensely and everyone deserves support. I am here to be a guide through your unique birth journey, witness your strength, encourage you to listen to your intuition, and help inform about your options, every step of the way.

Before I gave birth to my four sweet babies, I earned a bachelor’s degree in human development. I am a DONA trained doula and advanced VBAC Link certified. I am an avid reader and love to learn about all things pregnancy, birth, women’s health, and natural living. I enjoy hiking, yoga, traveling, collecting houseplants, deep one-on-one conversations, and playing games with my family. I am excited to meet you and hear part of your story!

Hello! I love people and I love helping people love themselves! I’ve been married to my husband, Stuart, since 1997. We have five biological and six adopted children we have been blessed to raise. We have also fostered many children over the years. My husband was in the Air Force so we moved around a decent amount. We have lived in Florida, Texas, Arkansas, Colorado, and now in Utah since December 2020. I grew up in Montana and was a nanny for a year in New Jersey after high school. I am a licensed cosmetologist and have appreciated that skill with a large family. I am a swim instructor and love watching people overcome their fears and develop new abilities. In addition to birth work, I enjoy having heartfelt conversations, traveling, going to the beach, hiking, refinishing furniture, photography, journaling, farm life, picnics, organizing, and snuggling with my children and  hubby. I love Jesus and feeling His presence in my life.

With the pregnancy and birth of my first child, my passion for childbirth was ignited. I read as much as I could about the process and was determined to have the  birth I felt was best for me. I had no doula and took no birthing classes (wish I would have), but my husband coached me through it and we triumphed with a completely unmedicated birth. After my natural birth I felt so euphoric and empowered and my confidence in life quadrupled. I felt there was nothing I couldn’t do if I set my mind to it. I wanted to share that feeling with everyone. And I still do. I organically fell into the role of doula for family and friends throughout the years. Just recently however, with my youngest starting school and us settling in one area, I decided the time was right for me to take my doula services to the next level. I’m excited to share in the excitement of birth with many more women in a more consistent way. I am also a birth assistant and an aspiring midwife. I look forward to getting to know you better!

I knew I always wanted to be a mom, but I never knew how much the birthing experience would shape my formation of motherhood. I’m so grateful they were positive, empowering experiences, and each subsequent birth built on the last. I found myself in the birth world as a birth worker the first time I captured a birth on camera: my nephew’s. My sister, along with the staff, allowed me into the OR as she delivered her son via cesarean. With tears in my eyes, I photographed the emergence of my nephew from my sister’s belly.

I couldn’t wait for the next birth. From there, I photographed many other births and then I decided to support women even more. I trained through CAPPA in 2020 with DoulaEd. I finally felt like I landed where I belonged. Empowering women through teaching them informed choices filled me with joy almost as much as motherhood fills me with joy.

Before I became a mother to my four amazing children, I completed a bachelor’s degree in Communication, served a full-time church service mission to Ecuador, and volunteered in Chile helping adults find employment. I enjoy learning and reading, playing softball, and playing board games with friends and family.

During my first (twin!) pregnancy, I had a lot of questions, but I wasn't always sure who to ask. My pregnancy and birth of my twins had several complications, and I'm so grateful that, in the end, all three of us were healthy and well. But looking back, I realize that I would have benefited from more emotional, physical, and informational support during my pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum. I became a doula so that I can be that support for others!

I birthed my son through an unmedicated VBAC, and that experience was indescribably transformative and empowering. I discovered my own life-giving strength and fell in love with birth! I also have a master's degree in Applied Linguistics and believe that words are powerful. You can check out my work on the power of our words surrounding birth at www.birthwords.com.

Outside of birth work, I love spending time with my three awesome kids and my amazing husband! I'm also a student (again!) preparing to be a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner and can't wait to serve many people in that role. Singing, walking in nature, and yoga also bring me focus, balance, and joy. And when the mountains call, I just have to go hiking—preferably to the summit!

I would be honored to be by your side as you discover your strength!

"I had a wonderful experience with Eliza. I think the part of my experience with her that was most meaningful to me was the emotional preparation for my second birth and the facilitation of the healing of the trauma with my first birth. Aside from this, she was extremely flexible, supportive, and sweet through my pregnancy and delivery. She was constantly looking to help me in whatever way I needed, even though the birth ended up going much differently than I had initially envisioned. This included both physically helping me with my waves of contractions, making sure I was getting nutrients through the process, and offering emotional support. She was very respectful of my decisions and empowered me to make them through the process. I'm so glad she was there because she helped make the birth so beautiful.

"[Esther] has a gift for making people feel secure and cared about and providing much needed emotional support. Having a woman by my side who had been through exactly what I was going through during my birth was huge for me. Esther kept everything running smoothly behind the scenes. She helped fill up the birthing pool, coordinated with my midwife and walked me through all the stages of labor.  She had my complete trust 100% of the time. She held my hand during every contraction and never made me feel judged or uncomfortable. Esther has discovered her calling in life and she performs it with a deep love and a real passion."

"Sarah does a really great job. We hired her because she is nice and easy to get along with. During labor she was very helpful and even helped with not so desirable tasks. Or things that were beyond what was expected. She added to the calming environment we were trying to have. She stuck with us and didn’t leave until there wasn’t anymore she could do. Sarah knew some methods to help comfort my wife. I felt she cared about us and wanted to do everything she could for us. We have already decided that if we have more children we will be hiring her again. So make sure you don’t need her the same days we will need her because she is already called for those days."

"Sara's care and support was absolutely critical in my birth experience. I don't have the words to express the difference her resources, friendship and kindness made in our son's birth! Sara went above and beyond to answer all my questions, helped dispel my fears and encouraged me to feel empowered and excited to give birth (which I never thought would happen!) I had an unmedicated birth and it was the most amazing and powerful thing I have ever done. I mean it when I said I could not have believed in myself or followed through so completely without her assistance. She was literally by my side during the hardest parts and I can't recommend her enough."

-Sarai

"I loved having Eliza as my doula so much for the birth of my first child that I knew right away that I wanted her to be my doula again for my second! She did a great job supporting me with information, affirmations, and by holding space for me emotionally before I gave birth both times and her presence made a huge difference during both experiences. As soon as she got there I felt so much more peace and confidence in myself. I was able to give birth unmedicated both times because I knew she believed in me and because of her attunement with me and what I was going through. After my first time giving birth I doubted myself and how well I had done but she helped me see and feel my strength, even though not everything went how I wanted it to. I also appreciate that she took some pictures for me both times so I can remember those beautiful experiences forever! I loved how much Eliza knows about birth and how she trusts that each person will have the birthing experiences they are meant to have."

-Mindy

I am so glad I had Esther as my doula for my last delivery. I already had two other kids by that point with very different labors... Esther was so great helping me with advice or encouragement during my false labor contractions and going overdue by a week. She even suggested options I could bring up with my doctor which I found very helpful. On the day of delivery she met us at the hospital and brought a sense of calm and reassurance. She coached me through contractions and breathing and pain management techniques. When it came time to push, I began having terrible back pains with each contraction. She was so steadfast and applied constant pressure and massaged my back. She never wavered or complained or seemed uncomfortable (which I know it had to be uncomfortable!). By the end, she had even rubbed the polish off her nails – but that counter pressure was invaluable!! I am so grateful she was there with me and 100%  know that her presence made my labor easier. I would not hesitate to have her join me again.

-Elizabeth

We had such a great experience with Sarah as my doula. Not only is she a friendly and spirited person but she knows her stuff. She really helped me understand all the options I had. I had no idea about all the options I had and was much better prepared for my birth. My delivery was so fast and she was there helping with the contractions and helping my husband know how to help which I was so grateful for. I loved hearing her during my birth asking the nurses for things I'd ask for. And the absolute best part was when the nurses asked if I knew the gender and I said we hadn't found out. They were so close to saying when she jumped in and kindly suggested we find out on our own and then caught it on camera. My pictures are precious to me. They are beautiful and tasteful. I highly recommend her.

"I gave birth with Sara’s help yesterday, and it was amazing! Sara is the total package when it comes to doula work- she is smart, knowledgeable, open-minded, receptive, and endlessly compassionate. She deeply cares about birthing women and their experiences. I was so nervous to give birth again, but she helped me to calm myself and face my fears. I am so grateful for all the help she gave me throughout the whole process!"
