Your Empowered Hospital Birth: Essentials

This one-day class is designed to equip you with practical skills and knowledge to support an empowered childbirth in the hospital, with a focus on physiological, unmedicated birth. Instead of focusing on a specific method, this class provides a variety of tools and hands-on practice so you feel fully prepared for your birth experience.

Throughout the day, you’ll engage in activities like practicing comfort measures, exploring labor and birthing positions, creating a birth plan, and having focused conversations with your partner. Here’s what we’ll cover:
  • Labor Stages and What to Expect: Understanding early labor, active labor, transition, pushing, and the immediate postpartum period
  • The Anatomy of Birth: How your baby moves through the pelvis and how positioning can support that process
  • Overcoming Fear, Tension, and Pain: Techniques to approach labor with calm, confidence, openness, and trust
  • Comfort Measures for Labor: A range of non-drug pain relief options to try out
  • Making Informed Decision: How to find and use evidence-based information for pregnancy and labor
  • Communicating with Your Partner and Team: Skills to support clear, effective communication during pregnancy and birth
  • Writing a Birth Plan: Crafting a plan to reflect your birth preferences
  • Building Your Support System: Laying the foundation for a strong support network as new parents

This class provides practical tools and comprehensive preparation for a confident, supported birth.
